Since the very beginning of my photography business, I’ve been known for my bright and ethereal editing style. I could never get on board with some of the trendy styles, like dark and moody or the orange skin tones. Give me light and natural! It’s why I created my own light & airy Lightroom preset!
I first learned that there were Lightroom presets you could purchase when I stumbled upon a company called Pretty Presets. This was circa 2014 and I excitedly spent so much money buying their presets and bundles. Certain they would transform my images!
Unfortunately, of all the presets I purchased, I was still disappointed in how much “fixing” I had to do after the presets were applied. Most of them add a “muddiness” that I couldn’t stand. Or unnatural hues and skin tones.
So, I stopped using purchased presets. I started editing every session manually to get the desired clean, natural, and film-like edit that I wanted. I found that I was doing the same tweaks every time, regardless of light setting….indoor, outdoor, studio….the base editing was all the same. So I saved these base edits as my own preset to easily apply.
