My clients chose this location for their family photos because Carnton Plantation is where they got engaged! In addition to family photos, this session was also for their son’s 2 year old portraits. As a Franklin TN family photographer, this client commissioned me to create a traditional portrait that she could “hang in my dining room until I die” (her exact words)!
Carnton Plantation, located in Franklin, Tennessee, is steeped in history and Southern elegance. With its sprawling gardens, historic mansion, and rows upon rows of vibrant hydrangeas, it provides the most beautiful backdrop for family portraits. Please note, it is owned and managed by the Battle of Franklin Trust and does require a paid reservation to use their property for photography sessions.
The Blooming Hydrangeas
Months later, I am still swooning over these incredible blooms. They were truly the perfect backdrop for this family’s photos. Their sweet boy was enthralled with exploring the gardens so we spent much of our time following him around and capturing his sweet little personality.

For their son’s 2 year portrait, they wanted a large piece of wall art to hang in their dining room. With so many beautiful images, it was no easy decision. Ultimately, mom chose this one for a 24×30 framed canvas….
And this is what it looks like finished and hanging on their dining room wall…STUNNING!
