Postpartum Photo Tips for Nashville Moms
Let’s be honest — those early newborn days are beautiful… and brutal. You’re in love, you’re healing, you’re adjusting, and maybe wondering how it’s even possible to do something like be in photos when your body and life feel completely different than they did just a few weeks ago.
I get it. I’ve worked with so many Nashville mamas who walked into my studio tired, leaking, emotional, and completely unsure of how they were going to “pull it together” for photos. And every single one of them left feeling held, seen, and so glad they showed up anyway.
You don’t need to feel perfect to be photographed. You just need to show up — and let me take care of the rest.
Here are a 5 Postpartum Photo Tips for Nashville Moms looking and feeling your best during your newborn session, even if you’re still in the thick of it:

Table of Contents
1. Don’t stress about your wardrobe — we’ve got it handled.
You don’t need to go shopping or squeeze into anything that doesn’t feel good. I offer wardrobe options in the studio that are soft, flattering, and postpartum-friendly — and I can guide you if you’d rather wear your own. Think neutral tones, flowy fabrics, and forgiving silhouettes that photograph beautifully.
(Also: under-eye circles and spit-up on your shoulder are normal here and we can fix just about anything with some editing magic)

2. Let someone else pamper you.
I probably should have made this at the top of this for Postpartum Photo Tips for Nashville Moms. Professional hair and makeup isn’t about looking “done up” — it’s about feeling like yourself again. Most of my clients opt to have this done in the studio or before they arrive, and it makes such a difference in how relaxed they feel. It’s one hour where you’re not holding a baby, answering questions, or bouncing anyone. Just quiet, calm, and care.

3. Trust the light and angles.
I’ve spent years learning how to photograph postpartum bodies with care and artistry. I know what light does for tired skin and what angles bring softness and elegance to every image. My job is to make you look like the most glowing version of yourself — without filters or gimmicks.
You don’t have to know how to pose. I’ll guide you through every moment.

4. Choose connection over perfection.
You’re going to look back on these photos and see the way your baby fit in your arms. The way their cheek rested on your chest. The way you looked at them in complete awe. That’s what you’ll see — not the baby weight or tired eyes.
Connection always wins. That’s the part that makes the portrait timeless.

5. Remember the why.
You’re not doing this for Instagram. You’re doing this for your future self — and for your baby, who will one day see these images and know how deeply loved and wanted they were.
It’s okay if you’re in your slippers, your milk just leaked through your top, and you cried on the way over. This season is hard and holy. You don’t have to fix anything before it’s worthy of being documented.
You just have to show up.

If you’re in the Nashville area and expecting soon (or recently delivered and are wondering if it’s “too late” for photos — it’s not!), I’d love to talk with you about creating something meaningful for your family. My full-service studio experience was designed for mamas like you — the ones doing it all, loving deeply, and needing a soft place to land.
You’re doing a beautiful job. Let me help you see it.
