Almost 2 years ago, I began building a Client Wardrobe to offer my clients. What started with just a handful of women’s dresses has now expanded to over 20 beautiful gowns + a mixture of baby and children’s clothes. With a decade under my belt of photographing new moms, I’ve become an expert at curating wardrobe and choosing dresses that will flatter you and photograph well. And that’s the criteria for a dress to make the cut into my client wardrobe. I only choose the best dresses for maternity photos, newborn photos, and family photos.
When you book a portrait session with me, one of the first things we start with is wardrobe planning. Almost all of my maternity and newborn clients choose to borrow a dress from the wardrobe. Part of the beauty is how stress free it is to not have to shop, be disappointed, and hassle with returns. Particularly inconvenient to go through all that when you likely won’t even use that dress ever again. With an experienced eye for the best dresses for maternity photos and newborn photos; all of our client wardrobe dresses are chosen for how beautifully they will fit and photograph on mommas.
Best Dress Styles to Choose
Long and flowy, defined waste. This style accentuates your feminine silhouette while flowing away from areas women often feel most vulnerable like the mid-section and thighs.
Off shoulder, smocked bust. A universally flattering cut, IMO. Especially if you want some help creating the illusion of curves. This style in particular is so beautiful to showcase a growing baby bump.
Sleeves, defined waist. This style dress is a classic and helps flatter the commonly vulnerable area like upper arms.
